If you child has been eagerly waiting until they turn 7-years old so they can get a library card, we have good news for you. Children can now get a library card once they turn 5-years old.
The 7-year old age requirement had been around for many years at Grand Saline Public Library and we realized that it was time for a change.
Most 5-year olds are readers and we want to give them the opportunity to check out their own books. Getting your first library card is a rite of passage and we are excited to offer them to younger children now.
Our summer reading program wrapped up with over 100 children reading to earn beads and prizes this summer.
We had record breaking numbers of people attend our programs and we managed to make it through a very hot July.
Thank you to everyone that participated in our events and reading program. I would also like to thank all the wonderful volunteers who made this summer possible. Summer is our busiest time of the year and we could not do it without the help of our wonderful volunteers.
Just a reminder, library cards are available for those who can provide proof of residence in Van Zandt County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
