Library Footnotes
Come visit us at the Van Zandt County Library where it’s cool, cool, cool and take a break from the heat. The VZC Library is open from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. We are located at 317 First Monday Lane, Canton.
The library has many items of interest including books, magazines, and newspapers. We also have computers and printing availability, and free WiFi.
Pre-school Storytime is over for the rest of the summer. Ms. Rhonda will resume storytime for the fall starting Sept. 7 and it will change back to 10 a.m. on Fridays. The Storytime schedules are available in the library and on the library website.
We had 22 kids and their animals for the Stuffed Animal Sleepover and breakfast. Seems like the stuffed animals found plenty of fun things to do during the late night hours at the library. Check out the Stuffed Animal Sleepover video on our Facebook page. A good time was had by all.
The Code Club continues to meet on 4 p.m. on Thursdays. If you are interested in computers and want to learn, come and join us.
Summer will be over soon, and if you are looking for something to fill your time, think about volunteering at the library. We always need volunteers.
It’s a great way to serve your community and meet interesting people. Also, learning new skills and exploring new ideas is a great way to exercise your brain. If you think you might be interested, come in and talk to us and pick up a volunteer application.
The Friends of the Library meetings will resume in September. The first meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Sept. 10. If you are interested in the library’s work and volunteering your time and energy and working with people who have similar interests, come and join us.
Just a reminder, that memorials and honorariums are a fitting way to celebrate the life or commemorate the passing of friends and family. These can be made by mail: Friends of the Library, PO Box 1072, Canton, Texas 75103, or in person at the Library.
In cool comfort you can use the computers, read magazines and newspapers, connect to the WiFi and choose a book to entertain and inform. All of this is available at no charge in the VZC Library.
Check the website www.vanzandtlibrary.org for our schedule and upcoming events. You can also visit our Facebook page for up-to-the-date information.
