It's that time again – fireworks, parades and cookouts. Our country declared its independence from Britain 240 years ago on July 4, 1776. We celebrate in many ways; but as you do, remember that our freedom has been bought and paid for by countless of brave Americans.

You can find books on the Revolutionary War and our fight for independence at the library. One book that comes to mind for the older children is ‘Rush Revere and the American Revolution’ written by Rush Limbaugh.

This week at Summer Reading is learning how to stay fit. Sam Deen, owner of CrossFit Van Zandt, will be showing us how to be stronger and healthier. This will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1 in the Van Zandt County Library.

Summer Reading programs are funded by a grant from Trinity Valley Electric Company. The grant covers cost of programs, weekly prizes of Legos, gift bags and cash, plus grand prizes presented at the last program to be held July 22. In addition, Splash Kingdom tickets are donated as well for a cool day in the park.
